Our Creative Director, Dominik Abé, is joined by our Head of Design, Moritz Wagner, to explain the thought process behind the development and the vision of Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew.
With the Trailer we wanted to depict how the team brings Shadow Gambit to life in our small studio in Munich, Germany and give you brief insight into what it’s like to work here as an artist, designer or developer.
Moreover, we’re finally ready to reveal a new member of your cursed pirate crew in the Development Insight Trailer.
Meet Toya, The Assassin Cook
Next to the definition of “cool” you would probably find an undead ninja pirate assassin cook in any lexicon of your choice.
Welcome Toya of Iga to the cursed pirate crew of the Red Marley! He is the cook of the ship and usually prepares tasty, soul infused meals for the crew.
But his amazing skills allow him to be a menace in combat too. He can place a marker anywhere on the ground and use it to teleport back to that location at any given time immediately.
This allows him to get out of dangerous situations really quickly but also allows for some advanced maneuvers and stylish kills: If an enemy stands on the marker when teleporting, the enemy will be attacked by Toya.

Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew is our new Stealth Strategy game. You will join a ghost ship with a living soul and assemble a cursed pirate crew. Embrace supernatural powers to defy the menacing army of the Inquisition, who stands between you and the mysterious treasure of the legendary Captain Mordechai.
The game releases on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation®5 in 2023.
